The Power of Prayer
through the Word of God (3)
God said, "My son, attend to my words …" (Prov. 4:20). God will make His Word good in your life if you'll act on it. If it's healing you need, for instance, God's Word says, "… Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses" (Matt. 8:17), and "… with his stripes we are healed"
(Isa. 53:5). If you don't see yourself healed, then the Word of God has departed from your eyes.
See Yourself With Your Answer
When tribulations knock on your door believe that all is going to be well, practice the most wonderful spiritual act, faith. I know that as you are reading this you are probably thinking. "That is easier said than done", I know the difficulty involved, I've also been confronted with some terrible happenings in my life, and I said aloud to a friend when told to have faith. "You tell me that because you are not in my situation". But how wrong I was and how God must have been saddened by my words.
Eight months ago when I took a trip overseas with my wife, with the intent to having a well-deserved holiday, on the second day of our arrival she fell very ill. She was contaminated with a strange bacteria that caused her to have Q- fever, the following six months were a total nightmare specially in an unknown place without friends and family support, I mean close family, I prayed like never before but her condition got worse by the day. The doctors told me that she could die at any moment, at first I cried like a baby and asked God "why us Lord". But then upon me came a tremendous will to fight back against the powers of darkness, and all that I read in the Bible and sermons I heard over the years I've been a Christian, became as clear as crystal I had to believe, I had to have faith.
"If the Bible says it then I believe, and that settles it." I'm not interested in what people that don't know the Word of God say. I'm interested in what the Bible says.
If God's Word says He hears and answers prayer, and if that Word doesn't depart form before your eyes, then you're bound to see yourself with the things you asked for. If you don't see yourself with the things you desire, then God's Word has departed from before your eyes.
If you don't stand by the Word, although God wants to stand by you, He can't, because the only way God works is through His Word. Remember God only works and moves in line with His Word. He has bound Himself by His Word. He has magnified His Word above His Name (Ps. 138:2). If you stand by the Word, God will stand by you and will make His Word good in your life. But if you don’t stand on God's Word, then He has nothing to make good in your life.
Many folks pray and pray and pray, but they don't pray according to the Word. But John 15:7 says, "If ye abide in me, and my word abide in you, ye shall ask what ye sill, and it shall be done unto you."
Jesus didn't just say, "If you abide in Me, you shall ask what you will." He also said, "If you abide in me, AND MY WORDS ABIDE IN YOU, (then) ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you" (John 15:7). With God's Word abiding in us, we have a good foundation to stand upon.
My wife is now better and back at work she survived four heart attacks, a stroke, and many other things that came upon her. My business is also recovering, you see when the demonic forces fight you they attack you from all sides, but when God intervenes He also takes care of everything and gives us back all that is ours, all in time of course, or shall I say in His time.
That phrase, "Be careful for nothing" means in nothing be anxious. It also means, "Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything . . ." (Phil. 4:6 Amp.). As long as you fret and have anxiety, all the praying and fasting in the world isn't going to do any good.
The rest of Philippians 4:6 says, "with thanksgiving." When you pray and make your requests known to God, then you must thank Him for the answer. We are to pray with thanksgiving.
Try to understand and practise these principles in your life. As I continue every week here on the Net www.sachristian.co.za to put them into prospective for you. If you do, you will surely grow in your fellowship with the Heavenly Father. You can also learn to allow the Word of God to abide in you so you can pray according to God's will, and your prayers will be answered. Then Jesus’ words in (John 16:24) will be fulfilled in your life: Your Joy will become full!
Best Greetings to all of you, brothers in Christ, may God bless you much as you continue to walk, the walk of faith in Jesus' Name. Praise and Glory be to God.
